An Introduction to Eluethero Root

A plant that grows naturally in the Tiaga region of Northeastern Asia, Eastern Siberia and the Korean peninsula, Northeast China, Southeastern Russia, and Japan, it has been adapted to grow along the North West coast in North America, including Northern California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia forests that are damp and receive substantial rainfall.

Growing naturally in mountain forests, it forms a thick low-lying undergrowth. It will grow in sandy or dense clay soils and will survive in sunny or lightly shaded areas. It is slow growing and a small flowering shrub that usually flowers in July and is a part of the Araliaceae family. Eleuthero root is also called Eleutherococcus senticosus, and is used in the form of a dried root.

This root has also been called Siberian ginseng, but this name was banned in the United States by the Ginseng Labeling Act, 2002, so it is now illegal to use this term. The reason for this ban is the word ginseng can only be used to refer to the Panax ginseng species, which is a cousin to Eleuthero. The term Panax is derived from the Greek language and means “cure all”.
Other names for this drug include Acanthopanax senticosus, Ci Wu Jia, Devil’s bush, Devil’s shrub, Eluthera, Ginseng root, Hedera senticosa, Pepperbrush, Pickly Eleutherococc, Shigoka, Touch-me-not, Ussuri, Ussurian Thorny, Wild Pepper, and Wu Jia Pi.

Eleuthero has been used to treat a variety of stress-related ailments by helping the body adapt to stress and preventing adrenal burnout. It does this by regulating the activity of the adrenal cortex, giving increased endurance and memory improvement. Eleuthero has been known to improve the immune system, increase mental alertness and enhance mental concentration, while sustaining a healthy overall mood.

Eluethero has also been used successfully when training athletes who are subjected to activities requiring great physical exertion and stress. This herb was used to treat individuals exposed to radiation following the nuclear accident in Chernobyl, and was dispensed in Siberia to the population of entire cities in the early winter as a preventative medicine for colds and flu’s.

Eleuthero can also be effective in treating the following symptoms that are caused by an HPA (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis) depletion: stress, exhaustion, dilating or contracting pupils, darkness under the eyes, a tongue that trembles caused by adrenal fatigue, and an overactive endocrine system causing neurasthenia and aching muscles.

Those suffering from loss of bone marrow due to radiation or chemotherapy have been treated with Eleuthero and found it effective. It has also been used to treat neurasthenia symptoms such as loss of appetite, headache, and insomnia.

The Chinese have used this herb in Traditional Medicine since 190 AD. In the 1940’s a Soviet Scientist named Brekham, discovered its use in helping the body become accustomed to stress (an adaptogen). Since then, its use as an adaptogen increased the popularity of Eleuthero.

Eleuthero is taken as an additive to fruit juices and smoothie drinks, or in teas. It has been used to enhance immunity when taken daily. It may also improve the performance of athletes, and was used in the Soviet Union by coaches of Olympic athletes.

In the United States, Eleuthero was tested in a study of baseball players. After taking Eleuthero for a period of eight days, they noticed their breathing capacity had improved so they were able to run quickly for short distances without becoming winded.

In Australia, Eleuthero was tested by a study group of men and women. They took the herb for 8 weeks and found that they had increased strength in their biceps and pectoral muscles. In New Jersey, a study showed that after taking the herb for 8 weeks the body had improved its ability to burn fat when exercising.

When Eleuthero is mixed with other herbs such as schisandra, it can enhance the immunity system to fight colds and other infections. For those individuals with high blood pressure, Eleuthero is not recommended as it stimulates the body, similar to caffeine but without the letdown afterward. It can also cause insomnia so it is recommended not to take this herb

... the nectar is collected. This nectar is a milky-white juice and is produced by the plant for 6 to 8 months. The amount of nectar ...

An Introduction to Organic Agave Nectar

Organic Agave nectar is a natural sweetener that was developed in the 1990’s. The agave plant grows naturally in the desert region of central Mexico, and is harvested by the native Hnahnu Indians who live in this region. Agave is a pineapple shaped flowering plant and once the flower is removed, the center of the plant is hollowed out where the nectar is collected. This nectar is a milky-white juice and is produced by the plant for 6 to 8 months. The amount of nectar removed from the plant can be up to 8 quarts twice each day, and the product is free of herbicides and pesticides.

Once the nectar is collected, it is sent directly to a processing plant where it is filtered and an enzyme is added to convert it to a product that can be used by the human body. This process changes the nectar to a simple sugar, which is high in fructose and lower in glucose. The resulting syrup tastes similar to honey or maple syrup, and can be used to sweeten any food or drink and can replace dates, honey, or sugar in recipes. Its consistency is smoother than honey and it dissolves easily.

Agave Nectar can be found in natural food stores and many grocery stores. It can be used as a sweetener in coffee and tea, or added to baking and sauces in place of sugar. This sweetener has a long shelf life of approximately 3 years and will not crystallize, making it convenient to use. It pours easily from a bottle and will not harden.

It sweetens by about 1.4 times more than white sugar, so ¾ cup of agave nectar sweetens the same as a cup of sugar. Other uses include a sweetener in fresh fruit salads, on cereal, in fruit beverages, in jams and jellies, poured over ice cream, yogurt, and mixed in fruit smoothies.

Agave nectar comes in varieties that differ in flavor and color. Lighter colors have less flavor and are produced at temperatures less than 113 degrees. Darker colors are more intense in flavor. The darker colored nectar is a thicker consistency, and is often used in stews, in meat glazes, and in barbeque and tomato sauces.

Agave nectar is certified organic, and the growers of the plant use only natural fertilizers. The manufacturers also obtain organic and kosher certification for the way they process the natural nectar into the finished product. It is also gluten and allergen free and has a low glycemic index of 32, which is significantly lower than honey’s index of 58. The higher the glycemic index, the faster it raises your blood sugar level after consumption.

Limiting the amount of glucose in the diet is an important health concern for many groups of people, including diabetics. The serving size for agave nectar is 1 tablespoon, which is about 64 calories and contains 16 grams of carbohydrates.

DMAE (as Dimethylaminoethanol)

Blue Green Algae (Aphanizomenon Flos-aqua)

Other: Carbonated water, Organic Agave Nectar, Citric Acid and Natural citrus extracts

Elaborating on the different ingredients

Choline

The substance was first identified in 1864 by Andreas Strecker. Despite its early discovery, it was only in the 1930’s that in-depth analysis of the substance was initiated. Scientist thereby, found that choline was a B-vitamin. It had the ability to avoid fat to accumulate within the body. The name of the drug was later denoted choline which was derived from a Greek word Chole. The Greek word means bile.

Choline has the ability to modify fat, and to make it integrate better in our internal transportation (signaling) system. The substance allows fat to travel as water and thus the fat molecules becomes more flexible in the internal membranes of cells. Bile is a distinct substance, which has not only one special chemical group (methylated) but it has 3 special groups (trimethylated) molecules. The integration of choline with its multi-purpose function allows improvement of our mental conditions. It has also a positive effect on the nervous system controlled by our brain.

What are the Functions of Choline in our body

Choline has various functions, but its evident and proven benefits to our health are that it can help these 3 aspects:

Structure Integrity:
Choline is a special substance necessary to regulate and control the structure of fat in cell membranes. The cell membranes are constituted of mainly fats. This means that the flexibility of the cells will depend upon the supply of Choline. The brain does also have a high level of fat molecules, thus to ensure integrity within the brain, choline plays an important role.

Nervous System:
The substance is important for the nerve system. It has its key role to improve the neurotransmitter, which is commonly known as Acetylcholine. The Acetylcholine is responsible for the proper sending and receiving of messages through nerves to muscles. Choline has this key role for the proper functioning of our nervous system. Choline has even been proven to be an essential tool to treat Alzheimer.

Methyl metabolism:
Choline is a trimethylated molecule. This gives it a pertinent role in the methyl set metabolism. Choline as a methyl group improves several internal aspects of the body, such as regulating genes within the body.

Where is Choline found

Choline is found in food substances. People consume it almost everyday, as a major intake of choline comes from either added emulsifier in meals or in the food itself. The substance can be found in soybeans products, butter, beef liver, milk, potatoes, corns, oats, lentils and egg yolk. This is not a thorough list of components that possesses choline. There are other products such as wheat bread that has it integrated. The consumption of the substance is good for the health.

Choline dosage

Choline should not be over consumed. The daily recommended intake varies from 125mg to 550mg. Young children should consume around 125mg whereas adults, women and men can consume an approximate of 450 to 550 mg of choline daily.

Eleuthero Root Extract (Siberian Ginseng or eleutherococcus senticosus)

The plant is mainly grown in Asia. The Eleuthero root can be found growing in areas such as in the upper part of China, Japan, Korea and Russia. It has since long been used as a neo-modern medicine to treat various illness. The root of the plant has the ability to improve the well being of the human. It is said to relieve stress and cure sicknesses. It has been used by the Chinese since very long and exact dates are unknown.

Eleuthero roots improve our well being by increasing energy. This enhancement in strength helps the brain to face and adapt to stress in various situation. The function of the drug is as follows.

Mechanism of Eleuthero in the Human Body

Eleutherococcus senticosus is an Adaptogen. This is the name given to a special chemical which has the ability to enable the body to adapt and face a spectrum of stresses that can be exposed. The plant does not contain any known, identified, or heard side-effects. Previous research carried out by different laboratories around the world found that the substance enhanced our ability to support stress. Stress could have been provoked by overloads of work, exercise, intense noise or exposure to hot environments which are all likely to trigger stress. The brain cognitive abilities such as alertness; hearing and vision (attention and focus) are peculiarly enhanced when the substance is consumed.

Eleuthero contains substances as Triterpenoid Sapponins, Glycans, etc. The various scrutiny carried out has yet not determined what or which substances in the eleuthero are promoting these positive effects on our health.

Eleuthero Purity

The product is not marketed as Siberian Ginseng in America anymore. It was previously banned to be marketed as a ginseng product. This is because ginseng is only referred to plants which fall under the species of panax. Eleuthero is a member of another family, Araliaceae. Siberian Ginseng is no more Eleuthero.

Rhodiola

The plant was recorded for the first time by a Greek physician. The period is back dated to supposedly 40 to 90 A.D. The root was named Rhodiola rosea which does eventually have a particular meaning correlating to the aroma of a rose. The plant has continuously been used by the Nordic region, such as Sweden. A naturalist namely Carl Linnaeus, (1700s) highlighted that Rhodiola was ideal to treat headache, hernia and other related illnesses. Today, it is used to treat fatigue and other mental exhaustion.

The plant is widely grown in Russia and other arctic regions. Rhodiola requires particular conditions to grow. It is grows best in soil which is sandy and found in mountains. The length of the plant itself can range from 25cm to 77 cm.

The composition of Rhodiola

The plant has unique ingredients in its roots. The roots themselves are of a length of usually less than 30 cm. The short roots are rich of ingredients that contribute to the betterment of human health. The main substances of the Rhodiola have been classified under a class called rosavins. There are mainly 3 elements included in the class being; rosin, rosarin and rosavin. There are also other highly active ingredients such as Tyrosol and Rhodioloside. The combination of Rosarin, Rosavin, Rosin and Rhodioloside are thought to be the main contributing factors to improve our psychological state. It does also positively reduce risk of attain other related diseases.

The possibilities of positive attributes that Rhodiola initiates to the body with its various mentioned and unmentioned components are widespread. The roots help to treat depression and prevent disease from emerging.

Rhodiola has not shown particular signs of any side-effects and has in various cases shown to successfully improve the psychological state of users. This has been delineated in mental performance, reduction in fatigue and intense stress. The substance does thus, cure, reduce anxiety and improve daily life.

Wild-Crafted Blue Green Algae Extract

The Blue-green algae can be harvested in various regions, e.g. in Oregon. It is an aquatic plant that grows naturally near lakes and rivers. The wild plant contains some special nutritions. The vast natural accumulation and assimilation of vitamins, fats, minerals, phytonutrients and protein in the wildly grown Algea plant are good for the health.

An example of Algae plant

The wildly grown algae, Spirulina has since long been consumed by both Africans and Mexicans. Its nutritive value is plentiful and has thus been popularly eaten. Later, research has proven that the algae has a medical utility. It acts as an antiviral medicine and reduces cholesterol within the body.

This has forced further studies to be executed on the subject. The various animal tests that have been performed have not provoked any negative effects. The animals, which consuming the algae were perfectly fine. More research was implemented by the Japanese government on the aspect and they found it to be a quintessential element to improve the human immune system. Other, research carried out by Germans and Indians have found that the plant can regulate blood pressure. While eating the plant the blood pressure is lowered and thus it can treat hypertension to a certain extent. There are other preliminary researches which are being carried out on the plant.

The plant is a powerful tool to treat various cognitive issues within the body. It does also supply sufficient energy to boost up the brain capabilities.

DMAE (Dimethylaminoethenol)

DMAE is an abbreviation used for the term Dimethylaminoethenol. In reality DMAE is a substance that does naturally evolve in the human brain. The purpose of DMAE is quite similar to choline. It does actually allow the production of acetylcholine. This is the neurotransmitter which is responsible for communication through the nerve system of the brain.

Benefits of DMAE

The various scrutiny carried out by scientists has concluded that DMAE is critical to boost up the concentration and memory capability of the brain. A list of possible benefits has been highlighted below:

Strengthen the immune system

Boost the brain functioning

Reduce stress

Reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases

Increase concentration and alleviate tension

Helps learning by enhancing short and long term memory

Boost overall energy and revitalize the body

Aditional DMAE information

The mechanism is not fully understood yet. It is only known that it acts on the acetylcholine. There are other positive features that are initiated simultaneously and produce remarkable results. DMAE does also not have any known adverse effects. This is a substance which does not contain any animal fat (as Brain Toniq is also for Vegetarian). It is thus appropriate for vegetarian.

A research carried out by Dr. Perricone, highlighted that DMAE contributed positively to our skin and brain. It was also found that it improved various cognitive abilities and psychological aspects of human health.

Organic Agave Nectar

Agave Nectar is a plant which is widespread in Mexico. It is called under different names such as Agave syrup, Agave Teguilana and Blue Agave. Agave nectar is special in nature as it is first of all, one of the only “Diabetic Friendly” ingredients available in contrast to other sweetener in the market. The plant does naturally posses these inherited ingredients, making it sweeter than honey and sugar cane but less dangerous.

Agave Nectar is the most expensive sweetener in the market. This accounts for the low utilization of the syrup. Its taste is fresh and once consumed it will strengthen the immune system of our body. These will be delineated in different ways. Organic Agave nectar can even clean blood in our body. These interesting features attract medical concretization of the substances.

How to extract Organic Agave Nectar

There are elaborated processes used to extract the juice of Agave nectar similarly to the extraction of juice from sugar cane. This one is slightly different. The agave plant is compressed and the juice is extracted from its core. Afterwards, as the juice appears, it is being filtered and processed. The processing of the juice involves heating to concentrate the juice. The syrup will contain some organic substances such as calcium, Iron, Potassium and Magnesium. This will be the main element forming its colour and taste.

The United State patent describes the process of extracting the juice by simply heating Agave nectar. This methodology has been certified as the best method by FDA and is GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe).

Composition of Agave Nectar

The syrup is composed of two prime substances which are glucose and fructose. The extraction methods can influence the balance between the two, either more of fructose or visa-versa. The low level of glycemic has made Agave syrup highly competitive compared to other related products. However, the high level of fructose in the syrup is regarded as a negative aspect.

Agave Nectar is the best sweetener in the market. It is not deleterious to people who suffer from diabetics or other problems related to blood sugar levels. It is a healthy product, and once mixed in the Brain Toniq it becomes an active stimulator for the brain to function better.

Natural Citric Extracted

The taste of Brain Toniq is mainly constituted by the natural citric extracted. The taste of the drink bears its savour to oranges, lemons, grapefruits, limes and passion fruits which have been extracted. There fresh, delicious and refreshing flavor can be experienced. Brain Toniq is a healthly drink which is tasty and effectively tweaks the brain concentration.
